Maartje is a very experienced manual therapist and treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries. She has a special interest in treating neck and back pain, as well as shoulder and hip problems, and particularly enjoys working with kids of different ages to treat their orthopaedic and sports-related issues.
Maartje graduated as a physiotherapist from Avans University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands in 2001. With her post-graduate degree in Manual Therapy and Manipulative Techniques, she specialises in the treatment of spinal dysfunctions, including manipulations. She is also qualified in Dry Needling and Thai Massage.
Before moving to Australia in 2018, Maartje has worked in a variety of private practices in The Netherlands, China, and Singapore. She very much enjoys working with people from different parts of the world. She has worked with patients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, which has helped her to understand different views and expectations towards health, well-being, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Maartje’s approach with patients is very hands-on and she finds it important to include an exercise programme into the treatment plan so that her patients get actively involved in their own rehabilitation.
Maartje is multilingual and can speak English, Dutch, and German.
“I always strive for the best possible outcome for my patients. To achieve this, I use a holistic approach and I allow and encourage my patients to play an active role in their rehabilitation process.”
