Pilates improves your core stability, mental and physical health
Pilates is a targeted form of exercise designed to improve the quality of human movement by taking into consideration the different forms of muscle strength, control and endurance necessary for normal function. Clinical pilates takes into account an individual’s injuries, underlying medical conditions and specific goals.
At Excel Physiotherapy and Wellness, our experienced instructors are University trained Physiotherapists who have completed extra qualifications in Clinical Pilates, bringing their expertise and Physiotherapy knowledge to the individual session or small group class situation.
Pilates is designed to improve:
- Core stability
Clinical pilates is available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Excel. Our classes combine a mixture of mat work and reformer in order to improve your fitness levels and achieve your goals.
Our in-house gym is equipped with reformer machines. Our classes are kept to a maximum of 4 people per class to ensure a personalised experience for our students. We provide all mats and props and ask that you bring your own pair of socks.
What results can I expect to notice and how does it work?
Our pilates instructors believe that every aspect of a person –body, mind, and spirit– can benefit from participating in Pilates.
We welcome all levels to our classes and will work with you in order to achieve your goals whether that is:
- core stability
- regain pelvic stability
- improved strength
- improved coordination
- weight loss
- improve fitness
- slimmer physique
Please note if you are pre/post natal, injured or have chronic pain we require you to attend an initial 30 min assessment consult *. An initial consult is also required for private health fund rebates.
* Exisiting physiotherapy clients may book into pilates without an assessment consult
Is this a long-term solution?
Joseph Pilates has stated that:
In 10 sessions you will feel a difference.
In 20 sessions you will see a difference.
In 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.
When combined with healthy eating, and a well-rounded wellness plan, Pilates is part of an ideal combination for a new you. The point of this is to encourage you to use this exercise method as long as possible, as your body’s memory system will always benefit from strength and flexibility.
Pilates is now an important component in training programs for sporting teams such as the Sydney Roosters, the Newcastle Knights and the Brisbane Broncos. It has also become the exercise method of choice for many celebrities. That should be convincing enough!
